About Us
Humboldt Renovation And Design is a local small family run business in Humboldt County owned ​and operated by Travis Byram and his wife, April. We specialize in remodels and home repairs. We started out as a small handyman business (Humboldt Handyman Business) but now we are a full fledged Licensed Contractor with Design Services.

From the time Travis Byram was a small child, he loved to learn about construction, mechanics, electronics and household items, often taking things completely apart in order to find out how they worked, sometimes to the dismay of his parents. As he grew up he was able to learn a whole lot by working with his father, who worked in maintenance, and both grandfathers, who had a long history of working in the trades and had a wealth of knowledge to pass on. They always had some sort of project going on and Travis was always eager to learn and get his hands dirty. You could say he had sawdust in his veins. After graduating High School and doing some college, Travis did Nursing for a time, and while it paid the bills, it wasn't what he really wanted to do.
In 2014 Travis met the love of his life, April and got married in 2015. Since then they have been blessed with two little boys, Finnley Wayne (now 7) and Tristan Forest (now 6) Finally, in 2019 Travis decided it was time for a change of career and found his true calling as a Handyman, and He decided to start his own business. Thus, Humboldt Handyman Service was born. Since then, a lot has happened. In July of 2021 Travis Wayne Byram took the Contractors Board test and passed first time, earning him his CONTRACTOR's LICENSE. Travis and April decided to change the name of their business to Humboldt Renovation and Design LLC. He is happy to serve all his customers with their Renovation needs big or small. To this day, Travis is still amazed that he actually gets to do what he loves for work. His various skills are put to good use every day and Travis still likes to keep learning new ones.

April Byram
Interior Designer & 50% Owner of Humboldt Renovation and Design LLC
While growing up, April's family ran a Termite control business together and she often worked on houses with her father and brother. This included working in crawl spaces and on roofs, replacing rotten or termite damaged wood, sometimes doing concrete, roofing, and of course, treating for termites. So she is no stranger to hard work. While working in the office she gained valuable experience the customer service, paperwork, finances and other aspects of running a business. So it comes second nature to her now that she and her husband run their own business together.
At the age of 16, while still in high school, since she did homeschool, she was able to to attend a local college consecutively. At the same time while working for the family business and working as an IHSS for her Nana, April also took the Interior Design course at college and realized her passion for home design, blueprints and decor. Unfortunately, after 3 years of studying Interior Design, she was forced to stop working and leave college because of health reasons at the time. Little did she know, years later, after meeting the the love of her life and having 2 baby boys, she would be able to finally be able to do what she loves to do, designing beautiful rooms, as they run this business, Humboldt Renovation and Design, together as a family. April has her hands full with the boys, especially since the 3rd baby boy arrived! However, she still finds time to put her creativity, design and marketing skills to good use for the business. In fact the company logo was designed by her. She can sometimes be heard answering phones or seen on estimate visits with Travis on days grandparents watch the kids. Humboldt Renovation and Design truly is a mom and pop business serving the people of Humboldt County, run by 2 hardworking, passionate people.
